Under his leadership, the company adopted Bri-Nylon fabric, allowing for the creation of the lightweight, durable, and flexible foul weather gear that sailors had long been waiting for.
An even more significant breakthrough proved to be the hand-taping method for seams invented by “Mr. Henri”. This revolutionary technique replaced earlier, unreliable varnishing and ensured true waterproofing by manually pressing tape over the seams. Additionally, Henri-Lloyd was the first to use Velcro fastenings and special non-corrosive nylon zippers on marine clothing to withstand salty sea water.
